Shockwave Therapy in Brea, CA

SW PIC 1.jpg

Radial shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses controlled acoustic pressure waves to target selected tendon and soft-tissue conditions. At Reborn Chiropractic & Wellness Center, Dr. Peter Yi uses the EMS DolorClast radial shockwave system as part of an individualized treatment plan when examination findings indicate that it may be appropriate.

Conditions We Commonly Evaluate

Shockwave therapy may be considered for selected cases involving:

  • Plantar heel pain

  • Achilles tendon pain

  • Patellar tendon pain

  • Tennis elbow

  • Certain shoulder tendon conditions

  • Persistent muscle or tendon complaints

  • Chronic soft-tissue sensitivity

Not every painful area is appropriate for shockwave therapy. Pain may originate from a joint, nerve, fracture, systemic condition, or another source that requires different care.

How Shockwave Therapy Works

The treatment delivers mechanical pressure waves through a handheld applicator. These waves create a controlled stimulus in the targeted tissue.

The purpose is to support the body’s normal recovery response, reduce sensitivity, and improve function when used for an appropriate condition.

Shockwave therapy is not a guaranteed cure and does not replace proper evaluation, rehabilitation, or referral when those are needed.

What to Expect

During treatment:

  1. The treatment area is identified.

  2. Gel is applied to the skin.

  3. The applicator is placed over the targeted tissue.

  4. Intensity is adjusted according to comfort and response.

  5. Exercise or mobility work may follow.

Some patients experience temporary soreness, redness, or sensitivity afterward.

When Shockwave May Not Be Appropriate

Treatment may be avoided or modified in cases involving:

  • Recent or unhealed fracture

  • Open wound or active infection

  • Suspected or known tumor in the treatment area

  • Significant bleeding risk

  • Pregnancy near the treatment area

  • Certain neurological or vascular concerns

  • Unclear diagnosis requiring further evaluation
